Drink More Water, Lose More Weight
Everyone knows you need to drink water, especially if you are trying to lose weight. Even those of us who could do a better job of it understand that it’s essential to our overall health. What you may not appreciate, though, is that drinking water is also necessary to losing weight. Achieving weight loss with water can be challenging for those who rather drink juice; but drinking water throughout the day makes your body feel fuller longer.
Water is no substitute for actual food; but it will help chase away those cravings for unhealthy snacks. Plus, when you do eat, chances are you’ll have less of an appetite if you’ve had enough water during the day. Thus, before you do have meal, be sure to drink a glass of water first. Studies have shown this is a surefire way to consume fewer calories. It’s still important to get the nutrition your body demands, of course; but having a glass of water first means you won’t go overboard.
Just like with anything else in excess, you don’t want to drink too much water. There are adverse effects related to chugging gallons of it, no matter what your intentions are. But if you are constantly reaching for soft drinks, ice tea, coffee, alcohol and other stand-ins for good old-fashioned water, you’ll be surprised by what happens when you make the switch. To put it simply, drinking more water leads fewer calories consumed, less jitters, fewer cravings and weight loss.
When at all possible, drink cold water. This forces your body into thermogenesis, meaning it has to burn more calories. Most likely, it’s due to the fact that your system is trying to warm the body up after that nice, cool beverage.
Drinking water is essential to your health. However, if your goal is to burn fat, it’s all the more important to drink water!
