It's In Your Genes

Last week was elimination for the ladies and sadly we are down to four, but these lovely ladies will tell you that they wouldn’t be here  without the right support network, friends, co-workers, and especially family….because no one can do it alone.  As with any journey – getting to the finish line is easier with someone by your side, but did you know family can play a large role in meeting weight loss goals?  Some say it’s all in the genes.

Genetics also play a role in who we are and why we are the way we are and this is especially true when it comes to children. Childhood obesity is hitting epidemic proportions and the ladies come together for some family fun and support each other.  We get an inside look at just how this Mission Makeover journey is impacting the Team and how important it is to have a support system.  Our ladies learn some important ways to utilize the support they have to be successful on their journey and take some time to give back as the ladies tackle their very first 5K Race and the Mission Makeover training team and their families will be there to cheer them on!

Is there a “fat gene”? Co-Host Jamie Eason, and Nutritionist Meryl Brandwein will pow-wow with the ladies at a local park to explore the topic of DNA, and if genes play a role they are destined to have — especially when it comes to their children. Can nutrition and lifestyle help change one’s predisposition?

No one can do it alone! Any journey impacts close friends and family who will come to the park to help the ladies kick it up a notch with fun physical exercise. Jamie will reveal the #1 family activity that is easy for all family members to do together!

With the announcement that the Mission Makeover Team, Brandi, Nicole, Rochelle and Nikki will be running their first 5K race, and to better prepare they receive a little help from:

• Amino Acids? Bree Lambert, AjiPure Fitness Expert and USA Track & Field National Champion takes the ladies through some simple exercises and running drills, followed by a sit down session with Dr. Miro Smriga, Ph.D, AjiPure Director of Scientific & Regulatory Affairs for Ajiinomoto North America, who talks amino acids and recovering after physical exercise. The ladies will receive a special surprise to help them on their fitness journey.

• Don’t take it too seriously! Phit America’s CEO and Founder Jim Baugh will stop by the park where the ladies will learn some tips on getting fit and healthy, incorporating fitness into everyday life … and keeping things fun for the whole family. Phit America is a Partner with the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, an organization that is committed to fighting childhood obesity.

Watch as the ladies run in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Boca Raton, Fl. Besides Jamie Eason revealing that she is a breast cancer survivor, find out which of the team members has a connection to cancer, causing her to run and make strides with even more purpose.

• HairUWear will join the race with a team to support Team Mission Makeover and the community. Michael Ferrara, Chief Marketing Officer and Celebrity Stylist Kristina Barricelli are on hand to lend their support. HairUWear supports the American Cancer Society by offering wigs to cancer patients to help them feel confident and love their hair! The company has helped women look and feel beautiful for over 45 years with hair extensions, full wigs and temporary hair accessories.

Whose numbers are dropping? The Core Four will step on the scale for the Weekly stats Powered by Taylor Scales to determine who’s up and who’s plateauing.

Jamie Eason will present the “Motivational Moment Brought to You by HairUWear” about how we can alter our destiny by watching what we eat and how we exercise.
