INTEL: Stay-at-home Mom. Three children: two sons and one daughter.
ON WHY SHE WANTS TO BE ON MISSION MAKEOVER: I’m totally motivated. My mom died at 48 and my grandma died at sixty something. I see my lifespan and I want to be here for my kids, for my husband, for our future. I want to be healthy for them and for me. I don’t want to leave them behind and not be there for them when they need me the most. And so I’m motivated. I’m totally motivated.
ON HER STRUGGLE: Lack of Will power! I need a lot of motivation to do this and I don’t have that. Doing it alone is not as easy as just saying, “Let’s do this”. I also need someone who knows what I need to do, to tell me what to do, how to do it and help me stay on task. I tend to start all kinds of weight loss programs, but I get bored of doing it alone and eventually just quit!
ON WHAT SHE’S MOST PROUD OF: My kids. My kids are my life so anything you ask me is going to come back to my wonderful kids. My 13 year old is a little overweight and struggles with his self-esteem, but I’m so proud him. My older son has a form of autism (Asperger’s) and Tourette’s and has come such a long way, so I am very proud of him, too. And of course, my princess…she’s the icing on the cake. I’m a mother of a little girl and I wanted that so badly.
ON HER APPEARANCE: Not being able to buy age appropriate clothes. Hearing people say, wow you’re so pretty ,but why don’t you just lose a few pounds, you’d look even better! Grrrr, that really bothers me!!!
ON FOOD: When I reconnected with my high school sweetheart, now my fiancé, he was working out, body building and into nutrition and I kind of threw him off. He’s always asking when I am going to start cooking healthier. I’m just a typical Puerto Rican, who eats rice and beans, and it’s gotten to the point that he won’t even eat at home. He will buy foods (salads, grilled chicken and veggies) and bring that home to eat. I need to change and I’m looking forward to getting online recipes on how to do this, so that so we can support each other and share a healthier life.
ON HER GOAL: I’m engaged to my high school sweetheart. Our big day is coming up and I always wanted to wear that heart shaped mermaid dress. My 3 kids are everything to me and I’m not as active as I would like to be with them, always feeling so tired and lazy. But I want to make changes and be there for them, always.
